And yes, Marrakech offers everything from tajines slow-cooked with apricots to vibrant salads tossed with fresh herbs and spices you won’t find anywhere else.

Some of my favourite spots are down in the Mellah district where you still get the feeling of the old city buzzing around you. If you want to sit down for a meal, try Café Clock – it's famous for its camel burger, which might sound odd but is genuinely worth a try. Or, if you're in Gueliz, head to Nomad, which always has a great atmosphere and killer views over the rooftops. Pro tip: always ask for mint tea with your meal. It’s not just a drink but a signal that you’re really doing Marrakech right.

Don’t skip the food stalls around Jemaa el-Fna in the evening. Go with an empty stomach and be ready for alleyway smells and tastes that hit you fast. Marrakech restaurants offer a wide range of experiences; it just depends on how adventurous you’re feeling that day.
