Reviews
We love Indian cuisine & we were so happy to find Clay Oven in Marrakech after a local friend’s recommendation! It’s a beautiful location and the service is excellent. The food was one of the best we had throughout our travels. The Palak Murgh (My Spinach Chicken was so fresh & delicious). The Naan and Samosas were perfect too. Great for big groups, families or intimate dinners.
Great experience. They brought free starter in fried naan chips with mint and tamarind chutney which were rich and robust, not watery. Server was attentive and restaurant was beautifully done in Indian decor with rich paint and nice table settings. Traditional Indian music was pleasantly playing. Food came out fast. I ordered shrimp masala which were deveined and “clean” as promised. I opted for butter naan and coriander/cumin rice which is separate from curries, nb. I got a ginger lemonade which was wonderful and served with no ice- should NOT have consumed it all but it was great. Everything was very good. I even asked him to make dish creamier and he did with medium spice simply perfect. I’ll come back before I leave Marrakech!!
Decent Indian restaurant. Food was overall good. Service could have been much better. There was only 1 waiter looking after pretty much all the tables. We had to remind him several times for plates etc. Mutton Gilafi Kebab and the Chicken Kolhapuri stood out. Both were very nice. Paneer Tikka and Tandoori Prawns were also nice. Mutton Masala was also decent however the meat was very fatty. They only had soft drinks and none of the mocktails or ice teas were available.
Unarguably, THE BEST INDIAN restaurant in Marrakech. The food taste is top notch and so much so that we returned here for dinner twice in a span of 3 days. I would definitely recommend to try their Malai Broccoli, Tandoori Mushroom, Garlic Chicken Tikka & Kebabs - all served in a sizzling hot plate garnished with red cabbage, sliced onions and cucumber. Their vegetable handi is a succulent vegetarian mains loaded with paneer and mix vegetables in a spinach based green gravy. A must try with Chilli Garlic naan if you are missing the authentic Indian taste. The chicken biryani is the best I have had anywhere whilst on a holiday. Reminds of the Indian taste from the streets of Hyderabad. The ambience is incredible and the service is impeccable. Overall, we had a great dinner experience at Clay Owen and we will definitely recommend this restaurant to all our friends visiting Marrakech.
