Just visited Dar Cherifa for the first time, and it was one of the best dining experiences I've had! The food is absolutely outstanding—the perfect place to experience authentic Moroccan traditional cuisine. A special mention to AYOUB, who truly made our visit memorable. His hospitality was exceptional, and he took the time to explain every spice used in the dishes, how they were blended, and the traditional cooking methods, including how long each dish takes to prepare. His passion and knowledge really elevated the entire experience. If you're visiting, don't miss the Harira soup and the traditional Chicken Tagine—both were incredibly flavourful and beautifully prepared. Highly recommended for anyone looking to enjoy authentic Moroccan food with warm hospitality.
We took a group cooking class here and it was fabulous. They had bathrooms and brought us mint tea while we waited for our food to cook. Excellent hosts were very welcoming!
The food was over-salted…the best was the lamb, but the chicken and beef were unfortunately disappointing. Salt was the predominant flavour. The chicken was succulent and then spoilt with salt, a rookie error of a chef not tasting their food. The ambience is nice, but honestly in the pictures online it appears as if there is a wider space. The floor space makes you feel all quite close together and the seats are very low to the ground. The waiters and hosts are very kind and friendly, but when you are paying roughly £50 per person this does not really do enough to make up for the disappointing food. The starters are small, which although you may say ‘a starter should be small’ the price does not feel matched to the experience. I have eaten in many places in Marrakesh in which the price, the quantity and the quality all complement each other. There are a vast number of beautiful little oasis’s and rooftops to be found in this beautiful city, but this one will leave you feeling a little cheated. It has the facade of being fancy, but the actual food experience lets it down, even if the decor and service is closer to what they are going for. If you are people who enjoy sharing together and order in for the table, then this is unfortunately not the place for you.
From beginning to end, I was looking forward to Dar Cherifa our whole trip. The ambiance is something special -- a building from the 15th century, the oldest restaurant in Morocco is a sight to behold. The food is special. The service is equally special. You feel like you are royalty when sitting in this establishment. We enjoyed mocktails, camel kefta, chicken tajine, and Sikouk (semolina / orange blossom dessert) along with saffron creme brulee. Highly recommended. There are many fine eating establishments in Marrekech -- but Dar Cherifa is not one to be missed! Thank you for a wonderful dining experience !
What a gem! We’re so glad that we heard about Dar Cherifa on our visit to Marrakech. Hidden away down the back streets, once inside it’s truly breathtaking. Absolutely beautiful building. Service was outstanding and the food was simply delicious. We found the prices to be very reasonable too. We went for lunch so we experienced the sunlight streaming down around us, which created a tranquil & serene atmosphere however we’re sure that the ambience of an evening visit would be truly magical! We asked if we could go upstairs to look at the roof terrace. Along the way was the most incredible view of the restaurant area. We recommend 100% & would certainly go back.
