Reviews
Dar Zellij has become one of my absolute favourite restaurants in Marrakech — I returned three times, which probably says everything. The riad itself is stunning: beautifully preserved, elegant and clearly very well cared for. It has all the atmosphere you hope to find in Marrakech without ever feeling staged or overly touristy. And then there is the food. The chicken pastilla is exceptional — easily the best I’ve had so far, and it has now become my benchmark against which I compare every other pastilla in Marrakech. The chicken tagine was another highlight. The sauce was so rich, fragrant and delicious that you’ll inevitably find yourself asking for more bread just to make sure none of it is left behind. The couscous was equally satisfying: generous, beautifully presented and full of flavour. There is live traditional music during dinner, but thankfully none of the predictable tourist-show atmosphere. Instead, an older musician quietly plays a traditional instrument, adding something genuinely authentic and rather magical to the evening. Service is fantastic: attentive, discreet and extremely professional without ever becoming intrusive. Beautiful surroundings, excellent Moroccan food, authentic atmosphere and impeccable service. I rarely return to the same restaurant several times during one trip, but Dar Zellij was an exception. Three visits later, I still wanted to go back.
Lovely restaurant tucked away in the medina. Staff have all been exceptionally attentive and kind to us. Celebrated my birthday here and was given a complimentary dessert. For starters we had Harira soup and pigeon pastilla. For mains we had the royal couscous and the seffa. Our favorite dish had to be the pigeon pastilla. Special thanks to Khalid for his excellent service along with everyone who sang happy birthday to me and the lovely hostess for being so friendly and hospitable. We will be back on our next trip to Marrakech!
A really beautiful spot for sunset drink at the rooftop and afterwards dinner in the beautiful hall. Highlight: orange tree in the middle of the room. Will come back definitely. Really kind waiters.
The restaurant is very nice all around. From the moment you walk in, to the music, the service, and the food is amazing. It was my friend's birthday and they brought this pastry and sung for us which was really nice of them. If you come, please get the chicken pastilla as the starter, ive never tried something like it before and we really loved it.
