Description
Day 1: Marrakech – High Atlas Mountains – Ait Ben Haddou – Tinghir
Your 3-day desert journey begins with an early morning pickup from your hotel in Marrakech or the nearest accessible meeting point. After meeting your driver, you will head toward the High Atlas Mountains, leaving the city behind and gradually entering a landscape of winding roads, traditional Berber villages, and scenic valleys. A short break will be made near the entrance of the Tizi n’Tichka Pass before continuing through this spectacular mountain route. You will then arrive at the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Ait Ben Haddou, one of Morocco’s most iconic ksars, where an optional local guided tour is available. Enjoy free time to explore the kasbah and have lunch at a local restaurant. In the afternoon, continue the journey through Ouarzazate and the Valley of Roses, taking in the changing landscapes before arriving in Tinghir. Check in to your hotel (Hotel Saghro or similar), enjoy dinner, and relax for the night.
Day 2: Tinghir – Todra Gorges – Touroug – Merzouga (Erg Chebbi)
After breakfast, depart from your hotel and head toward the impressive Todra Gorges. Here, you can enjoy a walk through the canyon with towering rock walls reaching up to 300 meters. A local guide is available for a walking tour through the oasis and nearby Berber villages, offering insight into daily life and traditions. Continue your journey toward the Sahara, passing through small towns and desert landscapes. A lunch break will be made in Touroug, where you can also enjoy a fun Saharan attire experience and take memorable photos and free Henna tattoo. In the afternoon, arrive in Merzouga, where the golden dunes of Erg Chebbi rise on the horizon. Begin your camel trek across the dunes at sunset, sandboarding, while your luggage is transported by 4x4 to the camp. Upon arrival, settle into your tent, enjoy a traditional dinner, and experience a lively evening of Berber music and drumming around the campfire under the stars.
Day 3: Merzouga – Ouarzazate – High Atlas Mountains – Marrakech
Wake early to witness a magical sunrise over the Sahara dunes, followed by breakfast at the desert camp. Afterward, enjoy a camel ride back to Merzouga, where you will meet your driver and begin the return journey to Marrakech. Travel through changing landscapes, from desert plains to mountain scenery, with several comfort stops along the way. A lunch break will be made in Kelaat M’Gouna, known for its rose products and peaceful setting. Continue through Ouarzazate and cross the High Atlas Mountains once again, enjoying scenic views along the route. Arrival in Marrakech is expected in the evening (around 7:30 PM to 8:00 PM depending on the season and group pace), where you will be dropped off at your accommodation or the nearest accessible point, marking the end of your unforgettable Sahara adventure.
