Description
Begin your journey with an early pickup from Marrakech, traveling through the spectacular High Atlas Mountains toward the historic town of Demnate. Along the way, enjoy breathtaking views of mountain valleys, traditional villages, and scenic landscapes rarely visited by tourists.
Continue deeper into the mountains and arrive at Megdaz, a remarkable Amazigh village famous for its six ancient kasbahs, built with stone and local earth materials more than 600 years ago. These impressive fortified houses still stand proudly above the valley, showcasing traditional architecture and the resilience of local communities.
Wander through the village’s narrow paths and admire its remarkable earthen structures, including the historic granary kasbah, once used to protect food and valuables for the community. Enjoy a guided hike through the beautiful Tassaoute Valley, surrounded by terraced fields, mountain views, and quiet nature. The peaceful atmosphere of the valley makes this walk a highlight of the journey.
After the hike, share a traditional homemade lunch with a local Amazigh family, where you will discover local traditions and hospitality. During this cultural moment, you will also learn about M'ririda N'ait Aatik, the legendary rebellious poet and singer from this region. Her powerful poems and songs, recorded in the book “Voice of the Tassaout,” tell the story of Amazigh women, love, freedom, and life in the mountains.
After lunch and time in the village, begin the scenic drive back across the Atlas Mountains to Marrakech, arriving in the evening.
