Itinerary
Day 1: Fes to Merzouga (467 km)
Travel from Fes through the Middle Atlas mountain range and cedar forests, passing Ifrane — known for its European-style architecture and ski resorts — and the Berber town of Azrou. Stop for lunch before crossing the Ziz Valley and Ziz Gorges via Erfoud and Errachidia. Arrive in Merzouga in the evening for a camel ride into the Sahara and overnight at a luxury desert camp.
Day 2: Merzouga to Ouarzazate
Start early to see sunrise over the Sahara before returning by camel to Merzouga for breakfast. Drive towards Ouarzazate, stopping at the spice market town of Rissani and the Todra Gorge canyon. Continue through Kalaa M’Gouna, noted for its distinctive rock formations and rose cultivation. End the day with dinner and overnight accommodation at a hotel in Ouarzazate.
Day 3: Ouarzazate to Marrakech
Depart Ouarzazate via the famous Oscar Studios and visit Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Drive through the Atlas Mountains via the Tizi n’Tichka Pass (2,260 meters) and stop at Berber villages and panoramic viewpoints. Arrive in Marrakech in the afternoon to conclude the tour with hotel drop-off or preferred location drop-off.
