Description
Meet Saeed, your guide and local Atlas Mountains champion
Your guide for this trek is Saeed, a 120km ultra-marathon champion with over 10 years of experience trekking and running across the High Atlas Mountains. Having raced and trained on these very trails for a decade, Saeed knows every switchback, water source and viewpoint on the way to Mount Toubkal's summit — and brings the stamina, safety knowledge and local insight that come from a true mountain athlete.
Day 1: Marrakesh to Imlil, and the ascent begins
You'll ride from Marrakesh to Imlil to begin your trek with Saeed. You'll head along the Ait Mizane Valley, pass through the village of Aremd and onto the shrine of Sidi Chamharouch. Following mule tracks into the high rocky cliffs, you'll climb steadily above the snow line until you reach the Toubkal Refuge, where you'll rest for the night — with Saeed sharing stories from his years of racing these mountains.
Day 2: Summit day
You'll follow the southern circle route with Saeed leading the way. The climb itself is not highly strenuous, but scree and altitude changes may make it difficult in parts — Saeed's decade of experience means he'll pace the group and point out the best route through every section, with plenty of views to distract you along the way.
When you reach the summit, soak in the 360-degree view. You'll see the Marrakech Plain and the High Atlas Mountains to the north, all the way to the Anti-Atlas Mountains and the Sahara Desert in the south.
From the peak, you'll head back down the mountain with Saeed and return to Marrakesh via Imlil.
