Description
Travel from Fes to Marrakech via Ouarzazate with a 3-day tour. Explore the heart of Morocco's stunning landscapes and cultural heritage. Visit the Middle Atlas Mountains, the vast Sahara Desert, and the historic towns and kasbahs.
Day 1: Fes to Merzouga
Depart from Fes and stop in Ifrane, often referred to as the 'Switzerland of Morocco,' known for its European-style architecture and beautiful gardens. Visit the cedar forests of Azrou to see the Barbary macaques in their natural habitat.
Stop for lunch in Midelt, a town located between the Middle Atlas and High Atlas mountains. Drive through the scenic Ziz Valley, with its stunning palm groves and ancient kasbahs.
Arrive in Merzouga, where you will transfer to camels for a sunset trek into the Erg Chebbi dunes. Enjoy a traditional Moroccan dinner and spend the night in a Berber desert camp under the stars.
Day 2: Merzouga to Ouarzazate
Wake up early to witness the spectacular sunrise over the Sahara dunes. Enjoy breakfast at the camp before camel trekking back to the meeting point where you will meet your driver.
Continue to Todra Gorges, a stunning canyon with towering cliffs. Take a walk along the river and enjoy lunch in the gorges. Drive through the Dades Valley, famous for its beautiful rock formations and kasbahs, and Rose Valley.
Arrive in Ouarzazate, often called the 'Gateway to the Sahara.' Check into your hotel and enjoy dinner.
Day 3: Ouarzazate to Marrakech
Visit the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Ait Benhaddou, a fortified village (ksar) that has served as a backdrop for many films. Explore the Atlas Film Studios in Ouarzazate, one of the largest film studios in the world.
Drive through the High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi n'Tichka Pass, with stunning views and picturesque Berber villages along the way. Stop for lunch in a local restaurant in the High Atlas region.
Arrive in Marrakech in the late afternoon or early evening.
