Your adventure begins in the late afternoon as a comfortable, air-conditioned vehicle collects you from your Marrakech hotel. Leaving the bustling medina behind, you watch the cityscape gradually transform. The journey itself is a prelude to the magic ahead; your knowledgeable driver-guide shares insights into the history of the surrounding plains, the hardy camels that are a lifeline here, and the traditions of the local Berber communities who have thrived in this rugged environment for centuries.
As you approach the Agafay Desert, you will have a short break to have tea and visit a Berber coopertaive. and head to The lush rocky Desert gives way to a vast, silent expanse of rolling, rocky hills.
You arrive at a traditional Berber camp, a serene oasis of calm nestled in a protected corner of the desert. Here, you are warmly greeted by your camel guide. With a smile, he introduces you to your gentle, long-lashed dromedary your steadfast companion for the next hour. After a brief and friendly lesson on mounting and steering your camel, your small caravan sets off in a single file, just as trading caravans have for millennia.
The only sounds are the soft, rhythmic plod of the camels' feet on the stony ground and the gentle jingle of their bridles. You venture deeper into the stillness, the breathtaking landscape unfolding in every direction. You admire the undulating hills, like frozen waves, stretching to the distant, snow capped peaks of the Atlas Mountains. The air is clear and filled with the golden light of the approaching sunset.
