Description

Embark on a 5-day trekking expedition through the Saghro Mountains, a volcanic and pre-Saharan massif located between the Roses Valley and the Draa Oasis. Immerse yourself in the raw, lunar beauty of southern Morocco — a land of towering rock pinnacles, dramatic cliffs, deep gorges, and wide desert plateaus shaped by ancient volcanic activity. The Djebel Saghro, rising to 2,712 meters, is the last mountain barrier before the Sahara. Its warm light, wind-sculpted landscapes, and silence make it one of Morocco’s most unique trekking destinations. This is also the seasonal homeland of the Aït Atta nomads, who migrate with their goats and set up their black tents along the plateaus — bringing life, culture, and authenticity to this majestic wilderness. This exclusive trek is available from October to May and includes guided hiking, mules, outdoor camping, cooking, tents, and sleeping bags. Walk approximately 16–18 km per day through volcanic valleys, high plateaus, and surreal rock formations. Begin with an early departure from Marrakech toward Ouarzazate via the scenic Tizi n’Tichka Pass. After exploring the Dades Valley and its thousand kasbahs, continue south across a desert plateau to reach Tagdilt village (1650m). Spend the night in a local guesthouse. Meet your mule team and begin crossing a vast plateau before ascending to the Tizi n’Iferd Pass (2400 m). From here, breathtaking views stretch across the Central High Atlas. Descend gently to the Iferd Plateau, often used by the semi-nomadic Aït Atta during transhumance. Camp at 2250 m. A beautiful ascent takes you to the summit of Mount Kouaouch (2600 m) — accessible without any technical equipment. After enjoying panoramic views, descend through Tassegdilt toward the oasis-like area of Igli. Camp at 1700 m. Cross the stunning Tadaout n’Tablah Plateau, a surreal amphitheater of rocks and volcanic formations. The day’s highlight is reaching the iconic Bab n’Ali (1416 m) — two enormous rock towers forming a monumental natural gate. Camp beneath the volcanic pinnacles. After thanking your mule team, drive back to marrakech transfer, and finally cross back over the Tichka Pass. Lunch is served after the pass. Arrive in Marrakech in the late afternoon.
