We booked this Riad kinda in a hurry because of the immigration officer when we arrived to Morocco. We booked it because it said 4* and was a 4/5 we thought it was gonna be good. When we tried to get to the Riad it was impossible. We contacted the host who said we had to get to a parking and then walk which means no car can get to the riad. That wasnt mentioned anywhere in the riad’s information. We were two girls alone who didnt spoke the language. The riad is located in a Medina, which means you have to walk in alley between people’s houses. The walk was about 3-4 min also that meant no car could get to the riad. Imagine having to walk and bring your suitcases wasnt great. It is not a safe place for a women Specially during the night. We had to change hotels and when we told the girl who was in the riad, she didn’t even care. She was talking on the phone and didn’t bother with us. Really dissapointed with this experience. My husband who is african american didn’t felt safe with us staying over there so we booked a regular hotel on an actual street where cars can get to. The hotel didn’t offer any kind of help or anything. If you are a woman or women travelling alone i dont suggest going to this riad. Its basically located in a souk. Its super overwhelming Specially as a women.
We recently stayed at Riad Akasia and overall had an ok experience. The staff were kind and welcoming. The facilities, however, were quite basic. The room was clean but simple, and amenities were minimal. One thing that disappointed us was having to pay extra for bottled water. As Western travelers, we found this surprising and not very accommodating, especially in a place where tap water isn’t typically recommended for visitors. This wasnt communicated to us at the start of our stay so we had the surprise bill at the end. Unfortunately, there were renovation works taking place during our stay, which had not been communicated beforehand. The pool was completely covered with a tarp, and there were workmen directly outside our room for much of the time. This made it difficult to relax and enjoy the space, which is one of the main reasons for booking a riad experience. The area is very busy. Its a 20min walk to the medina which is an experience! Its is very lively with market stalls and locals going about their day. During the night it has quite a different feel. We often experienced being offered drugs or being told the roads were closed when they were not. We were constantly hassled. This made it harder to relax. There are no restaurants or cafes nearby (20min walk minimum). The taxis are also unable to stop right outside the riad so we had to navigate the labrinyth every evening.
We spent four nights in this Riad. First, the location is okay since it’s in the Medina, but you need to take a taxi to go to places of interest. The service was good , and we got warm welcome and good food. You need to indicate in advance that you will eat in the Riad, otherwise it takes a long time to be served. However, the room is pretty old, the climatisation doesn’t work very well. Our bathroom was full of water as soon as we take shower. The door/ window doesn’t close really well so we are cold inside. (We were here in January) The over all experience was just okay but you find better places in Marrakech.
Very lovely riad in the heart of the northern Medina. Beautiful rooms, a rooftop terrace where you can enjoy a delicious breakfast, and an amazing staff who met all our needs. We couldn’t ask for anything better. Highly recommended! :)
Riad ideally located halfway through the heart of the medina and Majorelle Garden. We felt at home and at peace right after entering the building. The outdoor spaces are stunning (inside yard, rooftop terrace). Special thanks to Mouchine for being such an incredible host. I cannot recommend this place enough.
