Description
Departure is by car from Marrakech around 9 in the morning. The ride will last for 90 minutes and will take you south up the Moulay Brahim Gorges. In Asni there is a weekly market every Saturday - an exciting experience! We will then go to Imlil (1,740m), set in the upper level foothills of the Western High Atlas mountains, a main trailhead with streams and paths branching out in all directions. Here we will leave our vehicle to enjoy a glass of mint tea in the village and meet your local guide before setting out for your 4 km excursion. Your local guide will take you towards the south to the Berber village of Aroumd (1,843m). During your trek you will be passing the hamlets of ait souka and Targa Imoula, up and down the stark slopes, the jagged Western High Atlas peaks of the Toubkal Massif before us - Jbels Aguelzim (3,547m), Aksouâl (3,847m) and the Adrar Adj (3,122m) watching us all the way. During our trek there will be a stop at Aroumd to visit a village in the Assif Aït Mizane Valley. It’s a beautiful historical landmark that you can’t skip. This place was built house upon house on a large moraine spur, overlooking ancient irrigated terraced fields of barley, corn and vegetables and always surrounded by walnut trees. The trek then continues for another half an hour until the stop for lunch which will be prepared by a Berber family in the village of Tagadirte. After lunch you will be heading back down the other side of the valley back to Imlil and the return to Marrakech in the Late AfternoonIncludes
