Just returned from a 4 night stay. There are a number of real positives about this hotel- the grounds a spacious, well cared for and beautiful. The staff are very friendly and the service provided at the adult only pool in particular was wonderful. Bedroom was good too. Having said this, the experience did not live up to our expectations. We opted for the all inclusive option but this was rather limited. All inclusive does not mean all inclusive. Only 2 cocktails at each bar were available on all inclusive- you need to pay more for any others. Likewise, none of the à la carte restaurants are available either. This leaves you with one restaurant option or food at the pool bars after 3pm. There was a variety of food available in the buffet restaurant but it wasn’t great. The entertainment provided was incredibly limited - only provided on one night of our stay and again this wasn’t great. On the other nights Cirque du Soleil was shown on a big screen by the bar plus a video montage of Morrocan culture and religion. If you want a quiet, tranquil hotel you may well enjoy this but if you are after some atmosphere this may not be for you. We stayed at a different 5 star in the resort 2 months ago and thought that the Barcelo would be even better as it was quite a lot more money. Unfortunately our experience didn’t come close to the original.
We stayed here for 2 weeks and had a fabulous time. The adults pool was calm and we spent time here whilst the children were in kids club. Kids club was fantastic, the staff were amazing with our 2 girls and they regularly asked to go back. As a result of kids club, our children made lasting friendships throughout our holiday. Hajar, in particular, was fabulous and kind to our children. As well as this, there was nightly entertainment for the children including discos and a gala dinner. The service from the staff around the pools and in the restaurants was excellent. All staff were super helpful and couldn’t do any more to ensure our stay here was positive and comfortable. A specific mention to Youssef (server around the big pool) who was kind and attentive. Storage in the room was a little tight (2 adults and 2 children) however the cleaners were great. If you prefer a quieter experience in the evening we found having drinks and playing cards in ‘La Place’ to be very relaxing and calm away from the busier main bar. We stayed for 2 weeks and were not bored by the food. There was a big variety with constant nightly changes, which was a nice surprise. We were 1/2 board and found that this was a good balance in giving us options to choose throughout the day.
A lovely holiday resort. I’m writing this review while still here on holiday. Wonderful staff at the reception. The food is very nice. Rooms meets standard and very clean. They have three swimming pools. One very large, medium and a small pool. Gym facility as well as spa. They have entertainment at night at the bar. You can also book other book for other activities like camel ride, buggy bikes and various other activities. A bus from the hotel takes people inside the city and back for free, you only need to book or register interest at the reception and choose a time. It’s just a lot going on here. I recommend you come and spend sometime here. It’s a very good place to spend a week or two on holiday.
Pros: Kids club is brilliant, loads of activities and trustworthy staff. This was a massive bonus. Not overly busy, never had to get up early for sun beds etc. Staff are great, very attentive. Air con is very good compared to other hotels we've stayed at. Shuttle bus to Marrakech city is included and very handy! Cons: Food majorly lacks variety, struggled to eat most days. One member of party was sick. Lack of storage in rooms, many insects/mosquitos in rooms. Bad drain smell in rooms. Cleaning staff are too pushy, even with the sleep sign on the door, they knock and insist to clean. Be aware: There is all inclusive and all inclusive plus which entitles you to a slightly larger variety of drinks and different time availability.
Overall, we had a good stay and I think this is a nice option for families with young children. The rooms were comfortable, spacious, and worked well for our family. One of the highlights was the kids’ pool, where our children had a fantastic time. We also really appreciated the Oasis Experience area within the hotel, where they offer camel rides. We wanted our kids to have that experience, and having it right on the property made everything incredibly convenient. One area that could be improved is the kids’ club. Unfortunately, it didn’t live up to the expectations set by the photos online. It felt a bit neglected and could definitely benefit from better maintenance and more attention. It’s also worth noting that the “all-inclusive” package isn’t completely all-inclusive. Some restaurants and certain drinks require an additional charge, so it’s good to check what’s included before your stay to avoid surprises. Also check the hours of the food and restaurants. Overall, we enjoyed our stay, especially because of the family-friendly facilities and comfortable rooms. With a few improvements, particularly to the kids’ club and clearer communication about the all-inclusive offering, it could be an even better experience.
